Oil Spill Response
NRC has been involved in most of the major oil spill incidents in the US since its formation in 1992. Some examples of the more recent oil spill events where NRC has responded include:
a major pipeline rupture in Oakland California in 2005
the response to Hurricane Katrina and the associated oil spills in 2005
the spill from a container vessel collision with the San Francisco Bay Bridge in 2007
an oil refinery explosion in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2009
the major release of oil from a drilling accident in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010
Hazardous Material Response
All NRC standby personnel on the west coast are trained in chemical response, health and safety, hazardous waste operations and in the appropriate procedures for the proper use of Level A through D personal protective equipment.
NRC has responded to more than 5,000 hazardous material spills in the US ranging from leaking drums to highway accidents involving regulated or dangerous materials.
Environmental & Industrial
NRC maintains hundreds of master service agreements with its clients in the US through which it provides a range of environmental and industrial services. Some examples include:
Provision of hazardous waste and environmental management services to a local Authority in the San Francisco area. The primary focus of the contract is waste characterization, collection, and disposal. Ancillary services include emergency spill response and cleanup, industrial cleaning and vacuuming services and audits of treatment storage and disposal facilities.
Provision of waste identification, collection, and disposal, emergency spill cleanup, industrial cleaning and vacuuming, waste transportation, and site remediation services to the largest power company in northern California
Services to the US Navy for recovery of residual fuel oil, tank cleaning and disposal of hazardous materials from retired Navy vessels
